]]> René Martin cabinetmaker in the village Meribel les allues worked very well with Charlotte Perriand to create furniture for hotels like the Doron. So very young, son of the mountain pasture, René Martin had a fairly raw and natural approach with wood which was perfect for Charlotte who always preferred a love for wood and work than an aspect of decorative facination as we see Today. I was able to meet this old gentleman in 2000 and his approach and his simplicity touched me a lot.
the bench is made of arolle, it is an alpine softwood which grows very slowly at high altitude. A very minimalist piece of mountain landscape.
